Pastoral Care
Chanel College has an established reputation as a safe and welcoming College community that nurtures its students to be intelligent, confident and compassionate young men and women.
We recognise that we need to care for the whole student beyond the purely academic needs and expectations of our students.
Central to the provision of holistic care for all members of our community is the Pastoral Care system.
Pastoral care is based on a belief in the value and uniqueness of each individual because he/she is created in the image of God. The authentic expressions of love, care and concern shown by Jesus in the Gospels should be reflected in all aspects of life in the Chanel College community.
Pastoral Care at Chanel College:
- strives to reflect Gospel values and our College motto, To Live Justly
- focuses on promoting the development and flourishing of each person in all of the dimensions of his/her life – spiritual, intellectual, emotional, physical and social;
- aims to maintain and strengthen a safe, welcoming and inclusive community
- fosters the creation of an atmosphere of trust where the dignity and worth of each person is affirmed
- is the responsibility of all members of the College community and underpins all relationships within our community
- provides the philosophical underpinning for curriculum, policy and other decisions within the College
- ensures that behaviour management within the College is based on principles of justice and respect for the rights of individuals
- supports the capacity of students to develop their skills as independent and self-directed learners.
