Year 10

Chanel-College-Curriculum

At Chanel College, Year 10 defines the entry for students into the senior school.  During Year 10, Chanel College’s aim is to provide students with an engaging preparatory year of study that will ensure they are well prepared for the academic expectations of Year 11 and 12 senior subjects.

The Year 10 curriculum is closely aligned with the prerequisite requirements for Year 11 and 12 senior subjects at Chanel College.  Students in Year 10 will have the opportunity to commence preparatory study for Year 11 subjects early to enhance students’ opportunities for success in senior subjects.

Expectations of senior students are high. Therefore, our Year 10 students are expected to work with the Senior School Assessment guidelines.  Students are expected to be task-oriented and engaged in their daily classroom activities.

Chanel College aims to provide quality educational opportunities for all students in Year 10 to ensure they have the best opportunities to acquire the knowledge, skills, personal qualities and valued credentials essential for success in further education, employment and as future citizens.

All students are advised and supported to select subjects in Year 10 that will prepare them for study in Years 11 & 12.   If students are not successful in the Year 10 subjects, they will not be recommended to select the related subjects in Year 11 & 12.

Studying a Religious Education, English, Science and Mathematics subject is compulsory at Chanel College in Year 10. Students must study Health and Physical Education.  In Semester 1 History is also compulsory. For Vocational Pathways students Foundational Business is compulsory in Semester 2.
