Established in 1966, Chanel College has a long and proud history with many of its graduates living in the local community and beyond.
Chanel College embraces its students for life. Each student leaves a unique footprint at the College and we value each mark that is made.
We are invested in each students’ future and are genuinely interested in following his/her journey as he/she leaves our College grounds for the last time.

KANE LANGDON – Class of 2014
After graduating from Chanel, Kane moved up to Townsville in 2015 to study a Bachelor of Medicine/Bachelor of Surgery at James Cook University. In his fourth year of study, he took a leave of absence and completed a Bachelor of Medical Science (Hons); investigating the effect of helminthic secretomic products in the treatment of Rheumatoid Arthritis.
Moving up to Cairns to complete the remainder of his medical studies, Kane eventually graduated in 2021 and stayed on at the Cairns Base Hospital for internship. He is currently on rotation in the Orthopaedics Department and continues research and lecturing around the immunological mechanisms of disease.
As the majority of his family remains in Gladstone, Kane tries to return as much as possible. However, shift work and travel restrictions have been very effective at forestalling these plans – forcing him to instead enjoy the tropical paradise that has become his second home.
Kane’s advice is “To remember that the success of your life and your future job –whatever it may be– is wholly dependent on your relationships with others. Spend the time and effort required to deepen these relationships and watch your endeavours go from strength to strength.”
AIDAN McCARTHY – CLASS OF 2010
Aidan first discovered his love of the law while at Chanel College, so decided to follow his passion into practice. He went to the University of Queensland where he studied a Bachelor of Arts and Law. He worked as a Judge’s Associate for some time, and then spent a few years as a community lawyer predominantly helping vulnerable people, such as those who experienced childhood trauma, and Centrelink recipients.
Aidan was interviewed by the ABC in his role as a community lawyer with Social Security Rights Victoria in relation to the Pandemic Leave Disaster Payment. He recently started a new role regulating lawyers.
When he was in Year 12, Aidan went on a student exchange to Japan, and since then has done an Arts Degree majoring in Japanese, though he doesn’t use it much these days. Aidan has more recently been studying Auslan.
Aidan now lives in Melbourne after several years in Brisbane. Sadly, he has not had reason to visit Gladstone in close to ten years as his parents have moved down to south-east Queensland.
Aidan’s advice to others is “You can find more joy in your life if you think about how you can use it to help others.”
