During their Middle Years students at Chanel College will gain experience in all key learning areas to satisfy the Australian, Queensland and Diocesan curriculum requirements. The Middle Phase of Learning prepares students for their studies in the Senior Phase of Learning.
In the Middle Years Curriculum Structure students will create their course of study from the core subjects and from chosen elective units which are detailed in the subject selection handbook.
Year 7 and 8 CURRICULUM
- Core Subjects (4 periods per week) include Religious Education, English, Mathematics, Humanities [History, Geography or Civics and Citizenship], Science; (2 periods per week) Health and Physical Education.
- Rotational Subjects – 4 periods per week on a 6 week rotational basis – include: LOTE (Japanese), The Arts (Visual Art, Music, Drama, Media Arts), Digital Technology, Design Technology (Food and Textiles Technology), Design Technology (Industrial Technology and Design), Humanities (Economics and Business), Health and Physical Education (Physical Education).
Year 9 CURRICULUM
- Core Subjects (4 periods per week) include Religious Education, English, Mathematics, Humanities [History/Geography], Science; (2 periods per week) Health and Physical Education.
- Elective Subjects (4 periods per week per semester based on selection) selected from: LOTE (Japanese), The Arts (Visual Art, Music, Drama), Digital Technology, Design Technology (Food or Textiles Technology), Design Technology (Industrial Technology and Design or Graphics), Humanities (Economics and Business), Health and Physical Education (Physical Education).
