Parents and parishioners on local Boards bring to decision-making the wisdom of parent educators to complement the skills of teacher educators and pastors.

The Chanel College Board uses a process based on the principle of ‘sharing wisdom’ as articulated by Sister Mary Benet McKinney. The College Board operates on a process of consultation rather than decision-making and is involved with:
- the ongoing development of the Catholic ethos of the College;
- being consulted in the process of the appointment of a Principal by the Catholic Education Office;
- supporting staff and the Principal in the work they do promoting and maintaining the Catholic ethos of the College;
- exercising general oversight of curriculum, pastoral care, and co-curricular programs;
- ensuring that the College fulfils its potential as an option for the disadvantaged, including the poor;
- developing policies on matters referred to it by the Principal or Catholic Education authorities;
- facilitating the induction and preparation of Board members.
The Chanel College Board meets the first Wednesday of each month.
