Larissa Burnett from James Cook University visited students at Chanel College today to share information about one of the great opportunities JCU are currently running which is the HERO Program – a joint collaboration between JCU and the Mater Hospital.
HERO is a structured two-day program which explores Medical, Nursing and Allied Health careers. If you are interested in a career in health, this is the perfect opportunity for you.
During the HERO program, students will experience:
• An exclusive tour of the Mater hospital, including the surgical theatre.
• Participate in workshops about hand hygiene, wound simulation, and CPR.
• Enjoy presentations by health professionals with an opportunity to get your questions answered.

Who can apply?
The HERO program is open to students in Year 11 and 12 in the geographical area of Rockhampton and the surrounding regions (Gladstone, Yeppoon, Emerald and Bundaberg)
The program is limited to 30 students for the geographical area.
